Melbourne Art Class welcomes one of Australia’s most extraordinary abstract artists – David Palliser – to conduct a new course solely dedicated to abstract studio art practice.
For beginners, this course introduces the key elements and techniques of abstraction and will help beginner students, and artists who would like to revisit the fundamentals.
For more experienced artists or those who have completed Abstraction Level 1, this course provides an opportunity to explore the abstraction journey further and create self-guided art works with input from David.
A wide range of mediums are available, including drawing and painting in acrylics.
The course will explore the following:
- Colour using collage and paint mixing
- Positive and negative space as the starting point for an image
- Intuition, gesture and risk
Classes are restricted to about eight places to ensure one-on-one tuition.
David Palliser has had over twenty solo exhibitions and his work has been acquired by collections such as the Australian National Gallery, National Gallery of Victoria, Artbank, and Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery.
David has participated in numerous exhibitions, including Imagine, Heide Museum of Modern Art, 2006 and Melbourne Now, National Gallery of Victoria, 2013. David has also attended residencies at Leipzig in 2015 and Berlin in 2016.
