Melbourne Art Class welcomes one of Australia’s most extraordinary abstract artists – David Palliser – to conduct a course solely dedicated to abstract studio art practice. This course covers the key elements and techniques of abstraction, and creates space for artists who would like to either revisit the fundamentals or take their exploration of abstraction to the next level.

Melbourne Art Class welcomes one of Australia’s most extraordinary abstract artists – David Palliser – to conduct a course solely dedicated to abstract studio art practice.
This course covers the key elements and techniques of abstraction, and creates space for artists who would like to either revisit the fundamentals or take their exploration of abstraction to the next level.
A wide range of mediums are available, including drawing and painting in acrylics.

Classes sizes are limited to ensure one-on-one tuition.
David Palliser has had over twenty solo exhibitions and his work has been acquired by collections such as the Australian National Gallery, National Gallery of Victoria, Artbank, and Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery.
David has participated in numerous exhibitions, including Imagine, Heide Museum of Modern Art, 2006 and Melbourne Now, National Gallery of Victoria, 2013. David has also attended residencies at Leipzig in 2015 and Berlin in 2016.
Although not essential, we recommend students complete MAC’s Introduction to Abstraction course or have at least an elementary abstraction practise prior to joining the abstraction studio art class. Some prior knowledge will be assumed.

Melbourne Art Class welcomes award-winning sumi-e (Japanese Ink) artist, Junko Azukawa to host a two-half hour Hanko Seal Carving workshop. Lovers of traditional Japanese art will be familiar with the red stamp or seal often seen on paintings or documents. This seal is used in place of a signature and forms an important part of traditional Japanese culture.
