It is an ongoing course which focuses on the development of foundational techniques for painting and drawing, combined with a mentoring style support for children producing their own artwork. The course takes Melbourne Art Class’s focus on fundamental skills and creates a program suitable for the age group. You can see artwork produced in previous classes here.
Enrolments are capped at ten children. For these children’s classes, teachers generally works with the aid of an assistant. Courses run by the term. To find out more about this course or to discuss your children’s suitability please contact us through the contact page.

Founder and Director of Melbourne Art Class, Marco Corsini will draw on his extensive experience of working with beginner artists to set the foundation for a new way of seeing and drawing from life. Teens will explore fundamental techniques and tools and refine their drawing skills with this extremely experienced tutor. Students will be working from Still Life beginning with Structural drawing, then moving to working with Tone.

Olivia will take students in school grades 5 to 8 through the fundamentals of sketching animals, watercolour and gouache painting and colours, before supporting students in creating an reptile or bird character of their own. Students will work on facial expressions, gestures, fun props and even jaunty hats and accessories, to create characters unique to their own imagination.

The program is a studio-based class that mixes personalised tuition with a program of short presentations. A wide range of mediums are available, including drawing and painting in both oils and acrylics. It would be suitable for anyone who is interested in a class that develops observational skills and fundamental artistic skills while maintaining a degree of flexibility for creativity. We welcome all skill levels in this class – from complete beginners, or focused artists pursuing a project. For beginners, Marco will initially use a more structured approach that covers the fundamentals of drawing and painting.
