Olivia will take students in school grades 3 to 6 through the fundamentals of sketching animals, watercolour painting and colours, before supporting students in creating an animal or bird character of their own. Students will work on facial expressions, gestures, fun props and even jaunty hats and accessories, to create characters unique to their own imagination. The workshop focuses on the development of key foundational techniques for illustration and watercolour. Children will be guided and supported whilst creating their own artworks.
Suitable for all skill levels, this class is a good balance of the technical and creative. Olivia strives to help build creative confidence and technical ability. Places will be limited to ensure Olivia can offer one-on-one tuition for each student.
Olivia York is a Melbourne-based artist and illustrator, with a passion for Australiana. She creates witty and whimsical watercolour animal characters, which have been featured in books, packaging, homewares and even a food truck.
Her products have been featured in several tv shows, books and magazines including Better Homes and Gardens, Frankie magazine and Koala (Thames & Hudson). Olivia has collaborated with such brands as House, Lalaland, Nutella and Auspost.

Lovers of traditional Japanese art will be familiar with the red stamp or seal often seen on paintings or documents. This seal is used in place of a signature and forms an important part of traditional Japanese culture.

Combining mindfulness and art, this workshop uses mindful art practice for wellbeing. An illustration and watercolour workshop with a 'Sea Creatures' theme, designed for school children in grades 3 to 6 and taught by Amanda Weatherlake. Amanda is a Melbourne-based artist who specialises in watercolour wildlife illustration.
