‘Reptiles & Amphibians’ Digital Illustration Workshop

Please note: For this workshop, participants will need to bring their own portable device (ie: tablet or ipad), a stylus (ie: Apple pencil for ipad etc) to draw with and suitable software pre loaded such as Procreate, Fresco or Photoshop

The Melbourne Art Class team are excited to offer a digital illustration workshop with experienced digital artist and graphic designer Rachael Hammond. This is a digital illustration workshop with a ‘Reptiles and Amphibians’ theme, designed for school children in grades 5 to 7. During this workshop Rachael will guide students through the making of a digital illustrations of reptiles and amphibians.

The children will be guided and supported whilst creating their own digital reptile and amphibian characters. Suitable for all skill levels, this class will help students adapt new technologies to classical illustration.

Students will experiment with techniques that are discussed and demonstrated during class and will have the opportunity to use them in digital artwork they create. Places are limited to ensure Rachael can offer one-on-one tuition for each student.

Rachael Hammond is a Melbourne based illustrator, artist and graphic designer with over 20 years experience. She specialises in digital illustration as well as watercolour, coloured pencil, and graphite media. Her art focuses on wildlife, botanical and natural history.

Olivia will take students in school grades 5 to 8 through the fundamentals of sketching animals, watercolour painting and colours, before supporting students in creating an animal or bird character of their own. Students will work on facial expressions, gestures, fun props and even jaunty hats and accessories, to create characters unique to their own imagination. This holiday class is as Australian as a magpie snacking on a footy pie!

Teen's Japanese Ink Workshop

Award-winning sumi-e (Japanese Ink) artist, Junko Azukawa has been hosting continuously sold out workshops at Melbourne Art Class for over 4 years and we are thrilled for be able to offer these workshops for kids and teens from January 2022. Sumi-e is the ancient art of Japanese brush painting. Traditionally, paintings feature subjects from nature, such as flowers and birds. There is much more to creating an image during the process of Japanese ink painting; it is also meditative practice.
