Sea Life and Whale-being Watercolour Workshop
Combining mindfulness and art, this workshop uses mindful art practice for wellbeing. An illustration and watercolour workshop with a ‘Sea Life’ theme, designed for school children in grades 5 to 8 and taught by Amanda Weatherlake. Amanda is a Melbourne-based artist who specialises in watercolour wildlife illustration.
The workshop focuses on the development of key foundational techniques for illustration and watercolour, as well as taking the opportunity to slow down and paint mindfully. The children will be guided and supported whilst creating their own sea animal characters or sea life landscapes. Suitable for all skill levels, this class is a good balance of the technical and creative.
Students will experiment with techniques that are discussed and demonstrated during class and will have the opportunity to use them in an artwork they create. Places will be limited to ensure Amanda can offer one-on-one tuition for each student.
Amanda Weatherlake is a practicing artist specialising in watercolour wildlife illustration. She is extremely passionate about creating whimsical images, filled with colour and imaginative compositions. Amanda has Bachelor of Education (Primary) majoring in Visual Art. She has an extensive knowledge of implementing and teaching visual arts with primary school aged children and adults.

Sumi-e is the ancient art of Japanese brush painting. Traditionally, paintings feature subjects from nature, such as flowers and birds. There is much more to creating an image during the process of Japanese ink painting; it is also meditative practice.

The Melbourne Art Class team are excited to offer a digital illustration workshop with experienced digital artist and graphic designer Rachael Hammond. This is a digital illustration workshop with a 'Reptiles and Amphibians' theme, designed for school children in grades 5 to 7. During this workshop Rachael will guide students through the making of a digital illustrations of reptiles and amphibians.
