About the Course:

Join Olivia York, a Melbourne-based artist and illustrator, on an engaging journey into the world of illustration and watercolour. This course is tailored for children in School Grades 3 to 5, therefore making it an ideal starting point for young artists.

Olivia will guide students through essential techniques for illustration and watercolour, ensuring a strong foundation.

She will focus on nurturing creativity and therefore build confidence and help students discover their unique illustration style. Students will apply techniques discussed and demonstrated in class to create their own artworks, especially through experimentation and hands-on practice.

This class welcomes students of all skill levels, indeed offering a perfect blend of technical skill development and creative expression. Olivia’s goal is to boost creative confidence and enhance technical ability.

To provide personalised instruction and support, class sizes in this Children’s Illustration and Watercolour Course will be limited, thus allowing Olivia to offer one-on-one guidance to each student. Olivia York, a Melbourne-based artist and illustrator, specializes in creating whimsical watercolour animal characters with an Australian touch. Her work has been featured in various media, including books, packaging, homewares, and magazines like Better Homes and Gardens and Frankie. Olivia has collaborated with renowned brands like House, Lalaland, Nutella, and Auspost.

This class is for high school students who are interested in creating outside of regular school hours and would like to further develop their artistic skills. We aim to nurture our students’ natural artistic ability and interests, whilst also teaching the fundamentals of art practice.


MAC Glenferrie Studio, Hawthorn

This is a specialised course in painting and drawing for children in school grades 5 to 7. It is an ongoing course which focuses on the development of foundational techniques for painting and drawing, combined with a mentoring style support for children producing their own artwork. Participants can work in the drawing or painting media of their choice. Teachers will also work with parents and guardians to find the right balance of technical/ creative for their child.
