Meet Your Teacher: Sam Leach holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting), Honours Fine Art (Painting), Master of Arts (Fine Arts) and Doctor of Philosophy (Fine Arts) from RMIT University. Sam’s works are informed by art history, science, and philosophy.

This is an introduction to watercolour and gouache short course taught by Olivia York, a Melbourne-based artist and illustrator who specialises in watercolour illustration.
Olivia will introduce students to key foundational techniques for using gouache and watercolour media. Olivia will offer personalised assistance informed by the participants individual illustration goals.

Students will be introduced to basic gouache and watercolour illustration techniques including colour mixing, laying washes, colour glazing and lifting out, to set the foundation for watercolour painting. Olivia will also discuss the basic materials and equipment of watercolour such as a selection of basic colours in pans or tubes, brushes, watercolour papers, palettes and accessories.
