This course is presented by artist and teacher Amanda Weatherlake. Students will be introduced to basic watercolour painting techniques such as colour mixing, laying washes, colour glazing and lifting out, to set the foundation for watercolour painting.

Amanda will also discuss the basic materials and equipment of watercolour such as a selection of basic colours in pans or tubes, brushes, watercolour papers, palettes and accessories.

We maintain small class sizes to ensure Amanda can offer one-on-one tuition, especially for those students who have more experience in watercolour painting and want to explore different techniques and compositions.

Students will create several works experimenting with techniques that are discussed and demonstrated during class and will also be invited to create compositions inspired by landscape, foliage, animals, abstract ideas, or patterns, in a relaxed and collaborative environment.

Amanda Weatherlake is a practicing artist specialising in watercolour wildlife illustration. She is extremely passionate about creating whimsical images, filled with colour and imaginative compositions.  Amanda has Bachelor of Education (Primary) majoring in Visual Art and has an extensive knowledge of implementing and teaching visual arts with primary school aged children, and adults.
