Mixed Media Australiana Workshop (watercolour painting & collage)
This is a mixed media course in watercolour painting and collage, designed for school children in grades 3 to 7, taught by Olivia York, a Melbourne-based artist and illustrator who specialises in watercolour Australiana illustration.
The workshop focuses on the development of key foundational techniques for watercolour and collage. The children will then be supported whilst creating their own Australian animal character in watercolour, wearing a collaged native flowercrown. Suitable for all skill levels, this class is a good balance of the technical and creative. Olivia strives to help build creative confidence, because every child is an artist!
Students will experiment with techniques that are discussed and demonstrated during class and will have the opportunity to use them in an artwork they create.
A one and half hour structured workshop will be followed by a break and then a further 75 minute studio art style session will continue, whereby children will be encouraged to explore the making of their own artwork. Places will be limited to ensure Ilona can offer one-on-one tuition for each student.
