Looking to experience a more reliable way to creative expression? Join artist, Jennifer Hopper, in a workshop designed to help you explore your own creative language and express yourself, designed for students in Grades 5 to 7. In this class, you will explore a range of methods, materials, media and your own inspirations. Students will connect with materials and their sources of inspiration to create a unique work. This class is designed to be both fun and free while at the same time helping you to formulate and consolidate your own unique process.
Jennifer will discuss how we can interact with materials to develop a form of language and to create ‘conversations’, also to express a feeling or emotion. You will explore mediums such as watercolour and ink, materials that are inherently uncontrollable and explore how an artist engages with the medium to create a personal artistic process. She will discuss how an artist sees the world through creative eyes. How to look at art and everyday life in a more enriching and creative manner and how that can lead to a creative process. Jennifer will support you in bringing your inspirations into a process using various strategies including narrative prompts.
Jennifer Hopper is a Melbourne-based artist represented by Art to Art gallery. Jennifer holds a B.A in Fashion Design (RMIT) and is an experienced creative and presenter having worked for TripleJ as an Arts reporter. Students will be asked to bring three images that inspire them for the second session.
