Studio-based Art Class for Adults

Level: Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced
Ages: This course is for adults.
VCE students may be able to attend, please contact us to discuss.

This course will be taught by experienced artist and teacher David Hamilton. David has a wealth of experience to share with Melbourne Art Class students. David has a long teaching history at RMIT and Monash University and has had an impressive career as an artist for over 30 years. David’s courses at Melbourne Art Class are always well received, students enjoy David’s calm nature and willingness to share his knowledge.

The program is a studio-based art class for adults, that mixes personalised tuition with a program of short presentations. A wide range of mediums are available, including drawing and painting in both oils and acrylics. It would be suitable for anyone who is interested in a class that develops observational skills and fundamental artistic skills while maintaining a degree of flexibility for creativity.

We welcome all skill levels in this class – from complete beginners, or focused artists pursuing a project.

The studio-based art class for adults is based on a school term and is also open to students from secondary school age onwards.

*Basic materials are included in the course fee, however, ongoing students will be encouraged to put together a materials kit. Materials lists are available.

Students will create several works experimenting with techniques that are discussed and demonstrated during class and will also be invited to create compositions inspired by landscape, foliage, animals, abstract ideas, or patterns, in a relaxed and collaborative environment.

For beginners, Marco will initially use a more structured approach that covers the fundamentals of drawing and painting.

Our studio-based art class for Adults & an opportunity to develop your contemporary painting practice in this class with Sam Leach. In 2010, Leach famously won both Wynne and Archibald Prizes at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. His work has been extensively exhibited nationally and internationally.
