Melbourne Art Class welcomes award-winning Sumi-e (Japanese Ink) artist, Junko Azukawa to host a Japanese calligraphy workshop.
During this Shodo workshop, you will learn various brush techniques, calligraphy styles, stroke order and balance of Japanese characters as well as the history of calligraphy and the meaning of Japanese characters (so you don’t need to know any Japanese to begin with).
Junko Azukawa, a distinguished artist with accolades from both Japan and Australia, brings her expertise to guide participants. Discover Shodo with an artist whose work, “Bamboo Grove and the Dragonfly,” graces the permanent collection at the National Gallery of Victoria. this is a great opportunity to study under the guidance of an award-winning master.
All materials are provided, and workshop places are limited to ensure one-on-one tuition.

Lovers of traditional Japanese art will be familiar with the red stamp or seal often seen on paintings or documents. This seal is used in place of a signature and forms an important part of traditional Japanese culture.
