This is an introduction to illustration and mixed media short course taught by Olivia York, a Melbourne-based artist and illustrator who specialises in watercolour illustration. Over 5 weeks Olivia will introduce students to key foundational techniques for illustration using gouache and watercolour media. Olivia will offer personalised assistance informed by the participants individual illustration goals.

Students will be introduced to basic watercolour painting techniques such as colour mixing, laying washes, colour glazing and lifting out, to set the foundation for watercolour painting. Amanda will also discuss the basic materials and equipment of watercolour such as a selection of basic colours in pans or tubes, brushes, watercolour papers, palettes and accessories.
