Melbourne Art Class has three studio locations in Hawthorn (‘Glenferrie Studio’ and ‘Elgin Studio’) and Armadale (‘Union Studio’). Your booking confirmation email will confirm which studio your class or course will be held at. Please see below for further details regarding finding and accessing our studios.
‘Union Studio’ (Armadale)
Level 1, 85 Union Street, Armadale
The entrance to Union Studio is on Union Street, a few metres from Glenferrie Road. The entrance is shared with UP.
Free parking
- There are many 2 hour council free parking spaces in the vicinity of the studio.
- There are unrestricted parking places on High street (about 5-10 minutes walk), but look for clearways.
- There is up to 3 hours free parking in the Malvern Central car park (about 6 minutes walk).
- 4 hour street parking available at the Kooyong Road end of Union street (about 5 minutes walk).
- The top level of Drysdale Carpark, off Drysdale Street (about 3 min walk) has 4 hour parking but you will have to get there early, around about before 9 am to get a spot.
- Parking limits are heavily monitored in this area.

Public Transport
Trams
- Tram No.16 travels along Glenferrie Road. The studio is near the corner of Glenferrie Road and Union Street, on Union Street.
Trains
- Union Studio is a 10 minute walk from the Malvern Railway Station. Services from this station include the Crabourne, Frankston and Pakenham lines.
‘Glenferrie Studio’ (Hawthorn)
Level 1, 817B Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn
Entry to Level 1, 817B is via the laneway (Moticella Place) about 50 metres south of the Barkers Road and Glenferrie Road intersection. Please enter the door and go up the flight of stairs. If the door is locked, please use the doorbell.
Free parking (see image below for more detailed information)
- Barkers Rd: There is some unlimited, free parking on Barkers Road. The clearway finishes at 9:30am and most classes start after this time.
- Glenferrie Rd: There are 1P parking spots on Glenferrie Road. Students who drive usually move their cars during class and this is not a problem at all.
- Hawthorn Gv & Xavier Av: There are 2P parking spots on both Hawthorn Grove and Xavier Avenue. Students who drive usually move their cars during class and this is not a problem at all.
Public Transport
Tram
- Route 16: This tram runs from Melbourne University to Kew. Get off at Johnson St/Glenferrie Rd stop and it is only a 2 minute walk to the studio.
Train
- Glenferrie Station: Take the Lilydale, Belgrave and Alamein train lines and get off at Glenferrie Station. It is only an 8 minute walk to the studio, but you can also catch a connecting tram (see above) to make the walk a bit quicker.
