Acrylic Painting Workshop for Grades 5 to 10
Level: Beginner/Intermediate
Ages: This workshop is suitable for children in school grades 5-10
Acrylic painting is valued for its flexibility, speed, and range of textures that can be produced. During this, workshop Anna Parry will guide students through the process of painting an acrylic painting whilst discussing what make the acrylic painting process unique and how to get the most out of the process. Students will learn from this experienced artist about how acrylic painting is a process of rapid layering and adjustment, where timing and control of moisture play a central role. Students will learn about blocking in and building layers using techniques such as glazing (thin, transparent layers that modify underlying colour) and scumbling (dry brushing lighter or opaque paint over darker layers).
This workshop is taught by Anna Parry. Anna is an experienced art educator, having worked in both Primary and Secondary schools. She holds a First Class Honours degree in Fine Art and a Graduate Diploma of Education as well as a Master of Fine Art. She is a practising artist specialising in botanical watercolour painting and has been represented in exhibitions such as The Art of Botanical Illustration at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Melbourne. Anna also works as a freelance artist and illustrator and has been awarded several prizes and scholarships, including the Galloway Lawson Acquisitive Prize for Painting.
