1 day workshop

Join art conservator and artist Catalina Leichner and explore a range of art materials and techniques to gain a broad understanding of the different mediums you can use to create art.

During this one day workshop, Catalina will introduce you to different mediums and demonstrate techniques which you will be able to practice in the workshop.

You will explore the following mediums, including brushes, paper, canvases and associated artists’ tools:

  • Drawing – pencil / charcoal / conte /chalk / graphite
  • Pastels – dry / oil
  • Watercolour / inks / gauche
  • Acrylic paint
  • Oils (overview)

Catalina will offer you tips during the workshop and you will have the opportunity to ask her any questions about particular mediums in which you are interested, including the right brands to purchase for you. You will also have the opportunity to discuss future artistic projects you plan to undertake, and which mediums would be suitable.

As an art conservator, Catalina is knowledgable in the technical and historical aspects of art materials and will reference these aspects of the materials.

We welcome complete beginners and more experienced artists who need a day to reconnect with materials. We maintain small class sizes to ensure Catalina can offer one-on-one tuition for each student.
