Artist David Hamilton will guide participants in developing their painting practices, develop a theoretical understanding of their painting and enhance their unique voice.

This is a studio-based class where painters undertake their studio work under the tutelage of David, a contemporary Melbourne based painter renowned for his intimate, contemplative oil paintings on linen, often depicting figures and symbolic interiors with a refined, minimal surface. His work explores themes of presence, memory, and perception. Hamilton holds a BFA (Hons) and MA by Research in Painting from RMIT University. He exhibits nationally and internationally and is represented by Gallery Jennings Kerr.

Located in MAC’s state-of-the-art Union St, Armadale studio, the studio-based art class for adults welcomes participants to experiment with a variety of mediums, you can bring your own preferred tools or use the materials provided. The course operates on a school term basis, offering a structured yet flexible schedule that caters to students from senior secondary school age and beyond.
