Japanese Ink Painting (sumi-e) Beginners Workshop with Junko Azukawa

Melbourne Art Class welcomes award-winning sumi-e (Japanese Ink) artist, Junko Azukawa to host a three-hour Japanese ink painting workshop. Sumi-e is the ancient art of Japanese brush painting. Traditionally, paintings feature subjects from nature, such as flowers and birds.


Japanese Ink Painting (sumi-e) Short Course with Junko Azukawa

Award-winning Japanese Ink (sumi-e) artist and teacher, Junko Azukawa, will guide you through painting four traditional images that contain the basic strokes that every sumi-e artist masters: The Four Gentlemen.


Japanese Ink Painting (sumi-e) ‘Ongoing’ Workshop with Junko Azukawa

Join award-winning sumi-e (Japanese Ink) artist, Junko Azukawa in this three-hour Japanese ink ‘ongoing’ painting workshop. This workshop is for students who have attended a workshop or short course with Junko previously, as she will building upon the foundational skills learned in beginners workshops.


Hanko Carving Workshop with Junko Azukawa

Lovers of traditional Japanese art will be familiar with the red stamp or seal often seen on paintings or documents. This seal is used in place of a signature and forms an important part of traditional Japanese culture. 

In this workshop, students will learn about, design and carve their own Hanko stamp!


Children’s Japanese Ink Workshop with Junko Azukawa (Ages 9 – 12)

Award-winning sumi-e (Japanese Ink) artist, Junko Azukawa has been hosting continuously sold out workshops at Melbourne Art Class for over 4 years and we are thrilled for be able to offer these workshops for kids and teens in 2022.

During this workshop students will learn how to create traditional Japanese images and experiment with different brushstrokes using Japanese Ink.


Teen’s Japanese Ink Workshop with Junko Azukawa (Ages 13 – 17)

Award-winning sumi-e (Japanese Ink) artist, Junko Azukawa has been hosting continuously sold out workshops at Melbourne Art Class for over 4 years and we are thrilled for be able to offer these workshops for kids and teens in 2022.
