4 Week Course

A short course introducing colour theory, colour mixing and compositional colour theory presented by leading Australian contemporary abstract artist Samara Adamson-Pinczewski.

Artists throughout history have used colour to evoke mood, create balance, and express meaning in their work. Colour theory, which includes concepts like the colour wheel, complementary colours, and warm versus cool tones, helps explain how different hues interact and affect visual harmony. Colour mixing is essential to drawing and painting practice and introduces participant to a deeper understanding of the colour that they observe. Colour composition is a complex and rich element of many art forms and is a deeply rewarding aspect of studying art. An understanding of all these elements enriches both the maker and viewer of art and opens up a new stream of language and communication that is embedded within the artwork.

We welcome complete beginners and more experienced artists. We maintain small class sizes to ensure Samara can offer one-on-one tuition for each student.

Materials are provided.
