Description

Landscape Drawing in Pastels

Level: Beginner/Intermediate
Ages: This workshop is suitable for children in school grades 5-8

In landscape art, pastels are especially valued for their ability to capture light, atmosphere, and subtle colour shifts.

Children will have the opportunity to draw landscapes in pastels under the guidance of artist and art conservator and restorer, Catalina Leichner. They will use pastels to blend sweeping skies, rolling hills, and glowing sunsets, while also defining sharp details like trees, rocks, or buildings.

This medium’s responsiveness allows for expressive mark-making and layering, making it ideal for conveying the mood and texture of natural scenes.

Catalina Leichner is an Argentinian artist from Buenos Aires who specialises in watercolour and oil painting.  She holds a Bachelor in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage – UMSA (University of the Argentinian Social Museum). Catalina has worked as a restorer and conservator for National Museum of Fine Arts in Buenos Aries for the past 7 years and has also run regular watercolour workshops.
