Botanical Drawing with Watercolour
Level: Beginner/Intermediate
Ages: This workshop is suitable for children in school grades 5-8
Half Day Workshop:
Children will gain a greater awareness of nature and the artist’s need to carefully observe the physical characteristics of plants. Botanical drawing focuses on accuracy with every leaf, petal, stem, and vein observed closely and recorded. Participant will also use watercolour painting to complete some of their work, with experience gained in colour mixing and rendering of plant textures.
This workshop is taught by Anna Parry. Anna is an experienced art educator, having worked in both Primary and Secondary schools. She holds a First Class Honours degree in Fine Art and a Graduate Diploma of Education as well as a Master of Fine Art. She is a practising artist specialising in botanical watercolour painting and has been represented in exhibitions such as The Art of Botanical Illustration at the Royal Botanical Gardens in Melbourne. Anna also works as a freelance artist and illustrator and has been awarded several prizes and scholarships, including the Galloway Lawson Acquisitive Prize for Painting.
