Founder and Director of Melbourne Art Class, Marco Corsini will draw on his extensive experience of working with artists to set the foundation for watercolour painting.

Adam, watercolour on paper, 2019

Students will be introduced to basic watercolour painting techniques such as colour mixing, laying washes, colour glazing and lifting out.

Marco will also discuss the basic materials and equipment of watercolour such as a selection of basic colours in pans or tubes, brushes, watercolour papers, palettes and accessories

We maintain small class sizes to ensure Marco can offer one-on-one tuition, especially for those students who have more experience in watercolour painting and want to explore different techniques and compositions.

Students will create several works experimenting with techniques that are discussed and demonstrated during class and will also be invited to create compositions inspired by landscape, foliage, abstract ideas, or patterns, in a relaxed and collaborative environment.

Feedback from past students

“I enjoyed the water colour classes which Marco fascilitated. As always the sessions were a balance of discovering more techniques,  developing the necessary skills using the medium & gaining confidence in applying this to further painting. Because of Marco’s astute observations and the thoughtful way he has of assisting each individual the class has an encouraging, respectful feel.

The studio was light & well set out with a good range of materials. The content for the 2 sessions was good to get started or to revisit & we covered quite a lot on the 6 hours over 2 Saturdays. I was interested in experimenting with the use of water colour on different paper so could imagine the benefit of trying small samples of this before attempting a larger art piece.

I have enjoyed many classes at Melbourne Art Class over the past 5 years & would hope to attend studio art classes again in the future, particularly oils & portraiture & life drawing to keep up the drawing skills.” – Jude, October 2019

“Marco is of course a professional in everything he does and a fantastic teacher although I am sure you all know that by now.  The fact that everything is provided makes a huge difference so there is no fuss about organising yourself on the day or buying kits etc.” – Helen, October 2019

“Marco is an exceptional and kind teacher. I have learnt a lot during just two sessions.” – Nada, October 2019
