About this course:
Welcome to “Creative Pause,” a 5-week mindfulness art group where we invite you to explore the intersection of creativity, mindfulness, and personal growth. Led by experienced art therapist Jaana Sahling, this accessible and inclusive course is held in our beautiful light filled studio space with all materials provided.
Each session will introduce guided art activities in a range of modalities, providing opportunities for every participant to discover diverse art techniques, and explore how thoughts and emotions can be expressed non-verbally.
A main focus here will be on Creative Mindfulness, using relaxation, body and breath work, and awareness of our senses to connect to the present moment and how we currently feel.
About Art Therapy:
Art therapy is a type of counselling that incorporates artistic expression to delve into emotional and psychological experiences. Rather than solely relying on verbal communication, individuals utilise various art forms such as painting, drawing, or sculpting to explore and articulate their inner thoughts and feelings. Guided by a trained therapist, this process provides a nuanced means of self-expression and introspection, fostering deeper understanding and facilitating emotional healing.
This course is not for learning new technical skills, so if you are looking for art instructional courses, please see our current courses for a more appropriate class.
Class places are limited to ensure one-on-one tuition.
Jaana Sahling is a specialist in the creative process and holds an MA in Experiential and Creative Arts Therapy (MIECAT) and a BA in Fine Arts (Nottingham Trent).
