This immersive course, guided by Melbourne Art Class’s Founder and Director, Marco Corsini, draws from extensive experience to reshape your approach to drawing and perception. You’ll delve into fundamental techniques and tools, refining your drawing skills under the guidance of this experienced tutor. The course starts with structural drawing, where you’ll capture intricate details from still life subjects. Progress to working with tone to light and shadow. Explore expressive drawing to nurture your creativity and style.

We provide essential materials for your artistic journey, including charcoal, high-quality paper, and easels. However, if you have preferred tools, feel free to bring them along to make the experience truly your own.

Whether you’re just commencing your artistic journey or seeking to revisit and strengthen your drawing fundamentals, this workshop is open to all. We limit the class size to ensure personalised instruction, fostering an environment where you can receive individualised guidance and support. Throughout the one-day workshop, you’ll have the opportunity to take breaks for rest and reflection, ensuring a well-balanced and enriching learning experience. About Marco

Marco Corsini (B.Ed. MCA UniMelb/VCA) is a landscape and figure painter and the founder of Melbourne Art Class. He has exhibited in both Australia and Europe. He has been a finalist in several awards including the Rick Amor Drawing Prize. He was the Chief judge for the 2021 Camberwell Art Prize. He has taught in the Victorian school system and is engaged to regularly teach in schools. Marco has run workshops and creative programs for companies such as the Coles group and Officeworks. He is an instructor for Google worldwide.

Take a deep dive into the landscape and the classical techniques used by contemporary painter Sam Leach. He will lead you though the fundamentals of Grisaille, and demonstrate how artists such as Da Vinci, Titian, Vermeer and Rembrandt created such memorable work. A great course for beginners and those that are wanting to improve their painting.

Japanese calligraphy Shodo with Junko Azukawa

In this Workshop, you will learn various brush techniques, calligraphy styles, stroke order and balance of Japanese characters as well as the history of calligraphy and the meaning of Japanese characters so you don't need to know any Japanese to begin.

Learn Drawing Fundamentals
This course combines both formal and informal approaches to drawing. Each week, Camila will guide the class through a unique drawing experience. Participants will work observationally from life in various contexts and settings, including studio-based work and street drawing. The course will emphasise drawing as both a skill and a tool for self-expression, helping participants discover and develop their personal style. Designed as a rolling program, participants will journey with Camila as their guide, exploring a range of drawing techniques and materials.
