Ages: This workshop is for children in school grades 5 to 8. Younger children can enroll in Manga for Grades 3 – 6, .

 

Manga Workshop

Manga is comics or graphic novels originating from Japan. The most common styles of Manga have become extremely popular among audiences all over the world and we see many children and teens experimenting with this style of art.

Camila Quintero will introduce a brief history of Manga and will then step participants though the fundamental elements of the Manga style. She will guide students to develop their own Manga self portrait character during this positive, fun and supportive workshop.

Each workshop will have limited places to ensure Camila can offer one-on-one tuition for each student.

Camila Quintero is a Colombian born artist based in Melbourne who specialises in drawing and painting. She holds and MA in Fine Arts from RMIT Australia, and BA in Fine Arts from Universidad Nacional, Colombia.

Teen's Japanese Ink Workshop

Award-winning sumi-e (Japanese Ink) artist, Junko Azukawa has been hosting continuously sold out workshops at Melbourne Art Class for over 4 years and we are thrilled for be able to offer these workshops for kids and teens from January 2022. Sumi-e is the ancient art of Japanese brush painting. Traditionally, paintings feature subjects from nature, such as flowers and birds. There is much more to creating an image during the process of Japanese ink painting; it is also meditative practice.

An illustration and watercolour workshop with a 'Reptiles and Amphibians' theme, designed for school children in Grades 3 to 5 and taught by Rachael Hammond, a Melbourne-based artist who specialises in detailed illustrations of animals. During this workshop Rachael will guide students through the making of an illustration of reptiles and amphibians. She will demonstrate some of the techniques she uses in various media including watercolour and colour pencil.

Combining mindfulness and art, this workshop uses mindful art practice for wellbeing. An illustration and watercolour workshop with a 'Sea Creatures' theme, designed for school children in grades 5 to 8 and taught by Amanda Weatherlake. Amanda is a Melbourne-based artist who specialises in watercolour wildlife illustration.
