5 Week Short Courses
This Introduction to Painting short course is designed for people who are looking to learn the fundamentals of painting. No experience is required, however if you are considering doing an Introduction to Observational Drawing course as well, we recommend completing the Observational Drawing course first.

This course works with oil paints and all materials are provided. Places are limited to ensure one-on-one tuition.
This course will be taught by experienced Artist and Teacher David Hamilton. David has a wealth of experience to share with Melbourne Art Class students. David has a long teaching history at RMIT and Monash University and has had an impressive career as an artist for over 30 years. David’s courses at Melbourne Art Class are always well received, students enjoy David’s calm nature and willingness to share his knowledge.

Our Studio Art Courses are the foundation of Melbourne Art Class. In these classes you have the freedom to work on your own projects, or our Still Life display with guidance from an experienced teacher and professional artist. During the term, we sometimes have mini-lectures on a particular art movement, genre or technique. We welcome all skills levels, from complete beginners, to experienced artists who need a space and dedicated time to create.

Melbourne Art Class welcomes leading Australian contemporary abstract artist Samara Adamson-Pinczewski to conduct an Abstraction Studio Practice Short Course. This course builds on fundamentals covered in the introductory course, and is a great opportunity for students to progress their practice.
