Open Studio – Life Drawing
Open Studio Life Drawing is a life drawing class where students of all levels can come together and draw our experienced Life Models in a series of short, medium and long term poses, with the opportunity to seek individual feedback from accomplished artist David Hamilton. Every session is conducted with a different life model (undressed) to introduce you to a variety of figures.
This is not a structured or guided course, students will be working autonomously in our welcoming environment with resources provided. David Hamilton will be able to give you one on one guidance and feedback as needed, our small class size allows for plenty of opportunity to ask questions and seek feedback if you wish.
Classes sizes are limited. Unfortunately, we cannot accept students under 18 years of age in this course. For more information, please contact us via our contact page.
This class will be hosted by experienced Artist and Teacher David Hamilton. David has a wealth of experience to share with Melbourne Art Class students. David has a long teaching history at RMIT and Monash University and has had an impressive career as an artist for over 30 years. David’s courses at Melbourne Art Class are always well received, students enjoy David’s calm nature and willingness to share his knowledge.

Saffron will take students in school grades 8 to 12 through the fundamentals of drawing the portrait. Saffron will use plaster head busts to demonstrate a structural approach to drawing the face. She will discuss how to accurately structure a face and how to perceive tone, form and colour in the face.

In these classes you have the freedom to work on your own projects, or our Still Life display with guidance from an experienced teacher and professional artist.
