Floral Design with Carolyn Howells

These short courses in contemporary floral design are tutored by Carolyn Howells, an experienced floral designer/stylist and qualified Art Therapist. You can read our student feedback below, see Carolyn’s work here and click here to read more about her.

Carolyn is passionate about the benefits available to health and well-being through the practice of art and floral design. She will introduce you to the fundamental elements and principles of floral design including composition, balance and colour theory. You will take home unique flower arrangements which you have created!

The classes are limited to ten places and enrolments to ensure one-on-one tuition.

Recent feedback about our Introductory Floral Design Courses:

The course offered everything I wanted to know and it was a thoroughly enjoyable four weeks.” – Harriet

I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank Carolyn and the team for a truly wonderful experience in both the introductory and advanced courses.

I have been wanting to do some sort of creative class around flower arranging for a long time, I looked around at CAE courses and other websites, and by a stroke of luck came across these classes with Carolyn, which are something more special.

As a busy professional originally from interstate, it became a real oasis to spend a Saturday afternoon amongst new friends with Carolyn, learning about mindfulness, art therapy and floral design. To get in touch with your creative side and make beautiful arrangements to fill your home, surrounded by lots of inspiration and the lovely surrounds of Enderby studio / Uniting Church Richmond was a wonderful treat for a weekend.

Carolyn is a fantastic teacher, I learnt so much and she made me feel inspired and more confident to follow my heart and my own personal style whilst guiding me in the right direction around principles of design. Her passion for the craft was infectious, it was lovely to see how much she cared about the art of floristry as well as the creative space and connection of human emotion towards that art.

The classes are fun and interactive, as a student you are well looked after and the equipment, flowers and arrangements are beautiful and great value for money. I could go on, but I feel like I also don’t want to let the secret out here in Melbourne!!” – Kristin August, 2015

  1. Hello, just wondering if the intro course would be useful for someone wanting to do their own wedding flowers

    1. Hi Natasha,

We are actually offering a Wedding Floral Design course later in the year, around September time. No firm dates yet but we will be posting up course details, dates and times once its all locked in. If that’s too far away for you then the Intro to Floral Design is a great starter for you and will give you a taste of what to expect when doing it yourself. The next Intro course will be during August/September.

You can email me directly for further details or questions: hub@melbourneartclass.com
